I woke up knowing I'd have to watch Riley. I got up even before mom had to come in. It's the last day of having to do it before school because we go back the day after tomorrow.
Watching her was easy today actually. Rach and Reid helped a lot. (Thanks for that assigning work note mom!) The house was clean when mom got in and it was really worth it.
She got us McDonalds and we had to run back. They only gave us 1 chicken strip in a 5 piece order which was actually pretty funny because the special was buy one get ONE free. Get it?
Anyway, it was around 3:15 at that point and I had gymnastics at 4:30. That gave me just enough time to squeeze in some summer work note taking. I didn't sit long. I couldn't focus so I got up and read a book. A book of my choice that is! It feels so good to be able to read what I want to again. I got ready for gymnastics and headed off.
Mom came in to turn in some papers. Reid, Rachel, and John stayed at the house. Dad had a dentist appointment. We started with basic stretching out at the gym and everything was cool until we hit the floor. I go to do a basic round off backhandspring, land on my leg funny, feel a pop or something, and I fall over. The team crowds around me seeing what's wrong. I try to act as normal as possible but it hurts. My left leg just hurts. So yeah I'm walked over with an icepack after determining that I can move and mom is called to come pick me up. I wait for about 30 minutes with a dripping icepack and Ty suggests going to the doctor. About 45 minutes later, I find myself and dad waiting in the emergency room. Now let me tell you, this was my first time EVER waiting in an emergency room. It was my first time EVER getting an injury X-Ray and I had no clue what to expect. Emergency rooms aren't fun. We waited about an hour or so before they brought me to a room. I wasn't in much pain. I just hobbled like an old guy. So I trudged my way, limping into a hospital room and layed down on the bed. Let me remind you that, again, this was my first time EVER doing this. I only time I've been on a hospital bed was for visits.
Dad and I waited about 25 minutes there before the doctor came to determine I needed an x-ray. They wheeled me out of the room on the bed (that felt strange) and brought me to a xray room. Snap snap and I was outta there, I looked at the clock and saw it was 9:00 exactly. Big Brother was on. Luckly, mom was taping it for us. I'm wheeled back to the room, xrays are brought in, and it turns out to be a torn ligament. It was something like that. A brace is put on my leg, I'm given crutches and we're back home at 9:30. Okay. Normally I would be fine with all this. The doctor said after about 2 weeks I should be normal again. No problem there except for the fact that school starts in less than 48 hours. Did I tell you this was my first time EVER on crutches. Did I tell you the first day of school is coming? Not the 52 day of school either. The FIRST day of school and in would come Ryan hobbling on his leg and crutches. Not a good way to start. Through all this, I've learned one thing and it's good to know for the future. Emergency rooms aren't fun. They never will be.
