One of these days, I am going to perfect the most delicious cup of hot chocolate.
I think about this sometimes.
That if there was a job where, I don't know, guys in lab coats stood around an empty coffee mug and boiling hot water, throwing in exotic ingredients to make the perfect concoction of hot chocolate goodness, then I want in. Imagine the results.
And Oh Oh! I got it. I'd be called a hot chocolateer, right? And every day I'd show up to work with a different ingredient in mind to make millions off of.
One day - "Hot Choco-Banana"
The next - "Hot Chocolate Raspberry-Me Dark"
Omigoodness. The possibilities!
It's a science ya know? Here at home, I get it down to just the right amount of powder. And then (in case you try this out for yourself someday) you must must must put all the other ingredients in the mug BEFORE the hot water is added. Trust me. Dump the marshmallows. Plop the syrup. Sprinkle the shavings. Measure the cold milk. Dip a peppermint stick. Add the love. It'll come out delicious. Guaranteed. Win.
I made one tonight. It was fairly low on the wild scale, but it didn't fail. No sir, No way.
The Recipe:
(Serves 1 mug. Add ingredients directly to cup while water boils. Pour in water once it boils. Stir)
*4-5 tsps of hot chocolate powder
*~15 mini marshmallows
*4 oz. 2% milk
*peppermint hershey kiss (dipped)
*regular hershey kiss (dropped)
*hot water
It doesn't sound like much. And yeah. It's a pretty standard recipe, but the key to this one was just the right amount of chocolate. There's nothing worse than when your cup comes out too watery. But if you add the milk and the kiss, you're guaranteed to balance out the flavor between liquid and chocolate solid. It's an art.
So.... for any of you hot chocolateers out there in the world, here me out. I want in! Make me one of you guys. I can prove myself. Honest. I've worked as a barista. I've given drinks to all my friends. I'd be an asset. (Heck. I'd even bring my own stirring spoon and ingredients)
But the glory. Oh but the glory would be eternal.
One gourmet hot chocolate.
Now that's what I'm talking about. Coming right up.
