So my 3rd time was definitely the charm, but this 4th time was all about the stage door.
I got some good pictures finally and enjoyed seeing the cast outside. Good stuff.
The show:
Understudies were Alexandra Socha for Wendla and Gerard Canoico for Georg.
At first I was slightly annoyed to see Socha again, but she really changed my mind afterwards. Does a much better acting job and doesn't look quite as glamorous as Lea. It was good.
My seat was AA10..dead center of stage right next to band. I spent a good amount of time just watching the drummer cause he's amazing and so was Matt Doyle who was on as swing to my right. The best times were looking up and seeing up singing right above and then drifting to the other side to see what went on in the background.
I'm way too lazy to write a review like some people do and since I've seen the show so many times I'm perfectly capable of going into the ins and outs of who had "on moments" and what scenes were particularly well done, but for the most part, everything was normal.
Noteworthy:
-Got a lot of laughs from the new adult women (Kristine Nielsen) which is a big improvement from the last one who only lasted like a month. (Kate Burton) But far far away from the quality of the original. (Christine Estabrook)
-New Ilse (Emma Hunton) was better than I expected to be, but still not spectacular. Didn't have much stage presence, but had a good voice to make up for it.
-Stomps felt particularly hard from where I was sitting
-Gerard sitting on the step next to me was really really cool during "Left Behind."
-Bought an overpriced poster that made up for its price with all the signatures I got
-Seeing the real Hanschen (Johnathan B. Wright) was long overdue.
-Rowan had crappy crappy seats. Good thing I didn't buy with them because there's no way I would have been satisfied sitting on the ceiling and that's not just because I'm so used to seeing the show. They were just the worst seats in the house. Literally. Farthest possible way.
-I looked straight up and saw the mirror blue lights chilling. They still looked good.
Yep so I can't think of anything more right now.
It was as good a show as always.
If I were to rank the four times I've gone in order of best performance to worst:
1) AA3 (First time)
2)AA4 (Third time)
3)AA10 (Today)
4)Row F (Second time, rush)
But in terms of seats:
1) AA4
2)AA10
3)AA3
4)Row F
SO that's how I think of the whole SA experience.
This was probably my last time for awhile. As much fun as it all is, I don't want to get excessive and tire it out.
